Since 1993 The Berndsen Company, Inc. has completed hundreds of high-end custom new homes and renovation/restoration projects over the years. The company has completed residential projects ranging up to 20,000 SF and $9 million in size. All variations in architectural styles and materials have been utilized in our projects, and classical architecture is the company's specialty. The Berndsen team is highly experienced and seasoned, and has a full understanding of the peculiarities, requirements, logistics, and code issues involved with large high-end construction projects. The firm's projects have been recognized as some of the finest new homes and renovations produced in the Atlanta area.

Key Personnel

Jon Berndsen, President/Owner

Jon has over 30 years of commercial and residential construction experience. He earned his BS in Building Science (Construction Technology) in 1984, with a minor in Business Administration from the Auburn University School of Architecture. From 1985 to 1990, Jon was a project manager and estimator for a commercial General Contractor. During this time, Jon was in charge of multiple large commercial projects that included specialty U.S. Government military construction contracts where Jon worked closely with the U.S. Corp of Engineers. In 1986 Jon was certified as a licensed General Contractor and in 1991, Jon earned his Certified Remodelor designation from NARI. In 1993, Jon incorporated The Berndsen Company, Inc. and since that time has completed over 200 high-end residential renovation and new home projects, primarily in the Buckhead area of Atlanta. Jon is licensed as a Residential and Light Commercial Builder in the state of Georgia, and is a founding member of the Institute of Classical Architecture S.E. Chapter, and sits on its Board of Directors. Jon has been awarded 8 Obie Awards from the National Home Builders Association, and was awarded the 2008 Phillip Shutze Award from the Institute of Classical Architecture.

Scott Berndsen, Executive Vice President

Scott has over 17 years of construction experience and has been with the company since 1994. Scott earned his Business Management degree from the University of West Florida. His duties include management and oversight of all the company's accounting, finances, CAD generation, and general office management duties. Scott has created all the company's custom project management and estimating software, which is specially tailored to our unique needs. Scott also is a master carpenter and has extensive experience in all phases of high-end residential construction, having built several custom homes, and personally producing many of the custom woodworking features found in some of our projects.

Jeff Key, Senior Project Manager, Vice President of Field Operations

Jeff has over 35 years experience in the construction industry and has been with the company since 1993. Jeff attended the University of Georgia where he studied Business Management. JEff's duties include the supervision and management of all aspects of the company's field operations. Jeff oversees each of the company's superintendents and manages the contracts with each supplier and subcontractor engaged is our projects. Jeff's organizational and management skills are renown in the Atlanta construction industry, and he is very-well regarded by all of our clients and subcontractors. Prior to joining the company, Jeff was a Superintendent and Project Manager where he worked closely with Jon Berndsen. Jeff is highly experienced in all phases of custom high-end construction, and worked as a lead carpenter and ran his own carpentry business for 15 years prior to becoming a Project Manager.
